Maybe you could wire up the kale, or cabbage? Tell them there's a bunch of white moth caterpillar over in the next plot who are keen to chat, but you'd like to help out the kale (or cabbage). They just gotta come clean. (Kale, or cabbage, need this sort of approach. They're tough. I've seen them survive reading foods that turn lettuce onto yesterday's seaweed).
